Decades of Experience Protecting the Rights of Injured Workers

At Christopher J. Smith, P.A., I understand that being injured on the job, or experiencing a disability, requires quality medical treatment and a replacement for your loss of income. Injured workers are entitled to medical and lost wage benefits under the workers’ compensation system, and qualified individuals may be permitted to receive social security disability benefits. However, the claims process associated with receiving these benefits is complex and requires an attorney with the legal experience to handle your legal situation properly.

I, Christopher J. Smith and my staff help injured workers and disabled individuals understand their rights and assists them in all aspects of representation from the initial consultation through the conclusion of their claim. We have the experience and knowledge to assist you with your legal needs through the challenges that accompany your injury and inability to work.

I started my practice of law in 1989, and know the workers’ compensation and social security disability laws have changed dramatically over the length of my career. This perspective allows me to immediately address your concerns, explain your rights and obligations under the workers’ compensation and social security disability systems, and formulate a targeted strategy to maximize the results from your claim.

Services to my Tampa Bay and west-central Florida clients include:

  • Legal guidance regarding the various types of medical and lost wage benefits under workers’ compensation: For more than three decades, I have helped injured workers understand their rights and obligations, and learn about the benefits they are entitled to, such as prompt medical attention, lost wage benefits, and reimbursement of expenses related to trips to the doctor and other providers.
  • Assistance and advice in all matters related to Social Security Disability benefits: During your initial consultation, I will provide you with a comprehensive evaluation of your case and an explanation as to the most effective way to address your needs. We assist you with your initial claim process, filing for an appeal and representation at your hearing before the Administrative Law Judge.

The confidence my office has in its ability to successfully handle your claim allows us to work on a contingency basis, meaning you are not charged any retainer or hourly charge for legal services. I am only paid if I establish your entitlement to benefits or secures a settlement of your claim. Additionally, I advance all costs associated with the litigation process, and will only recover these costs if there is a successful outcome to your case. As a result, my representation will cost you nothing until we achieve a settlement acceptable to you or establish your entitlement to disability benefits.
