Christopher J. Smith has been a practicing attorney in Tampa,
Florida since 1989. Throughout his practice, he has represented
injured workers in workers compensation claims. He has never
represented the insurance industry. He is currently a sole
practitioner, representing claimants through west-central Florida.
Mr. Smith received his undergraduate degree from
Wake Forest University in
1986, and his juris doctor from
Stetson University College of Law
in 1989. He has focused on workers' compensation law since he began
his practice in 1989, and he has been Board Certified since 1996. He
has represented exclusively claimants during the entire length of
his practice. In addition to work as a claimant’s attorney, Mr.
Smith devotes a portion of his practice to representing individuals
in connection with Social Security Disability claims since 1994. He
was the 2008 – 2009 president of Florida Workers’ Advocates, and is
a member of the
Executive Council of the Florida Bar’s
Workers' Compensation Section. He remains an active board
member of
Florida Workers’ Advocates
and speaks at workers' compensation conferences several times a
year. He is a
member of Rules Advisory Council of the Workers' Compensation
Section of the Florida Bar, 2011-2012.
He is an active member in
WILG (Workers Injury law and
Advocacy Group),
FJA (Florida Justice
Association), and
NOSSCR (National Organization
of Social Security Claimants' Representatives.
